A Little History and Monuments of Úbeda:
Úbeda is a city with an impressive historical legacy. Founded by the Iberians and flourished under Muslim rule, it reached its maximum splendor during the Spanish Renaissance. Its historic center is full of palaces and stately homes that reflect the wealth and power of the nobility of the time.
One of the most notable monuments is the Sacred Chapel of the Savior, a Renaissance jewel commissioned by Francisco de los Cobos, secretary of Emperor Charles V. You cannot miss visiting the Los Cobos Sailing Palace, Santiago Hospital and the Church of San Pablo, each with its own charm and historical significance.
Additional activities:
In addition to the meeting activities, we encourage you to explore Úbeda and its surroundings. You can visit the Archaeological Museum, which offers a fascinating collection of artifacts from different periods, or simply get lost in the labyrinth of streets of the Jewish quarter. Don't forget to try the exquisite local cuisine, especially ochios, a traditional delicacy of the area.
Solidarity Participation:
This year, as in previous editions, we will install a Solidarity Table in collaboration with Cáritas. We invite you to contribute personal hygiene and home cleaning products. Your generosity will make a big difference for many families.
Photography contest:
We will also have the participation of the “Gran Angular” Photographic Association in the VII Photographic Contest related to the meeting. If you have any photography enthusiasts in your group, do not hesitate to encourage them to participate. The contest rules are available on the Association's Facebook or by requesting them directly from the Úbeda Lacemakers Association.
We hope to have your presence at this unique event. Come enjoy a day of culture, art and brotherhood in the magical city of Úbeda.
See you on June 8, 2024!
