Puente Genil: Much more than bobbin lace
But since we're in Puente Genil, why not take the opportunity to discover all its charms? This town, located in the heart of Andalusia, is famous for its light, its history, and, of course, its delicious cuisine (quince paste is a must!). Here are some ideas to complete your family visit:
A Walk Along the River: Puente Genil owes its name to the bridge that crosses the Genil River. A stroll along the riverbank is perfect for enjoying the lovely Andalusian weather. Look for the Miragenil BridgeThis iconic structure offers beautiful views of the village and is ideal for a family photo. The sound of the water and the natural surroundings are incredibly relaxing.
History in Scale: If your children like history or model making, you can't miss the Roman Villa of Fuente ÁlamoLocated on the outskirts of town, this fascinating archaeological site boasts impressive, remarkably well-preserved mosaics. It's like stepping back in time! It's advisable to check opening hours before visiting, but it's a truly remarkable experience.
The Sweet Taste of the Village: You can't leave without trying the famous quince paste from Puente Genil. There are several bakeries and shops where you can buy it artisanally. You can even take a short sweet tour through the historic center, admiring the architecture of its churches, such as the Parish of Our Lady of Purification.
Immerse yourself in its streets: The charm of Puente Genil also lies in its squares and streets. Wander through the town center, discover its charming corners, and soak up the lively atmosphere. For dining, there are numerous bars and restaurants with terraces where you can savor typical Andalusian tapas in a friendly and welcoming setting. We recommend dishes featuring local products, such as quince paste, in both sweet and savory dishes.
