11th Lace Makers' Meeting in Valdepeñas: A weekend of art and tradition to enjoy with the family!
By Eva – El Mundillo de Eva
Hello families! 👋 Looking for a plan for the weekend of May 30th that combines art, tradition, and a festive, family-friendly atmosphere? Look no further! Valdepeñas, the city of wine, awaits you with open arms and cushions ready for the XI Lace Makers' Meeting.
A great plan for all ages
I confess that I, personally, am fascinated by the world of lace. It's an art that requires incredible patience and skill, and watching lacemakers work live is a truly mesmerizing experience. Imagine dozens of women (and some men too, of course!) moving the bobbins with astonishing speed and precision, creating authentic works of art with silk, linen, or cotton threads. It's a sight to behold! 🤩
This gathering isn't just for lace experts. It's an event open to everyone, perfect for enjoying with the family. Children will be amazed by the lacemakers' skill, and you can explain to them the importance of preserving these artisanal traditions. There will also be stalls where you can buy unique and original pieces, from fans and tablecloths to handkerchiefs and home decor items. The perfect gift or a treat for yourselves! 😉
When and where? 🤔
El XI Lace Makers' Meeting took place on Saturday May 30 at the Esteban López Vega Pavilionin Valdepeñas. The opening hours are 10:30 - 13:30So you have plenty of time to enjoy the event and afterwards, why not take the opportunity to explore the city?
Valdepeñas: Much more than wine 🍷
Although wine is undoubtedly the star of the show in Valdepeñas (don't leave without trying a good red wine!), Valdepeñas offers much more than that. You can start by visiting the Wine Museumwhere you will learn about the history of viticulture in the area and be able to taste some of the best local wines.
If you prefer something more cultural, don't miss the Plaza de España with its impressive town hall and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. And if you're traveling with children, I recommend a visit to the Parque del Este, an ideal green space for them to run and have fun.
For history buffs, Valdepeñas has several interesting museums, such as the municipal Museum or Museum of the MillsAnd if you fancy a stroll, I suggest exploring the streets of the historic center, where you'll find shops, bars and restaurants to recharge your batteries.
Practical tips for your visit 👇
Arrive early: The event is usually very crowded, so I recommend arriving early to avoid crowds and have time to see everything calmly.
Bring cash: Although some stalls accept cards, it's advisable to carry cash just in case.
Taking photos: Don't forget your camera! The event is very photogenic and you'll surely want to capture the best moments.
Enjoy the atmosphere: The most important thing is that you relax and enjoy the festive and family atmosphere of the gathering.
