Dear knitting friends and craft lovers,
Today we are pleased to share some exciting news that is sure to warm your creative hearts. From September 4 to 10, Zamora will be filled with lace, bobbins and incredible fabrics with the arrival of the XX Meeting of Lacemakers and Multiworkers of Zamora and the province. This event, which began as a modest exhibition 20 years ago, has become a true reference in the month of September.
The councilor of the Zamora City Council, David Gago, has highlighted the importance of keeping the tradition of lace and bobbins alive, ensuring that this meeting contributes to this beautiful tradition being transmitted from generation to generation.
The exhibition of the wonderful works will take place at the headquarters of the Royal Brotherhood of the Holy Burial, on Rúa de los Francos street, from September 4 to 10. This is a unique opportunity to admire some of the masterpieces that the Zamora lace makers have created throughout the year. Additionally, as a special touch this year, you will be able to see the sheet that will be used in the Holy Burial procession during Holy Week, a selfless gift from the lace makers to the Brotherhood that fills us with pride.
But that's not all, the highlight of the meeting comes on Saturday, September 9, in La Marina. This day, we will bring together around 400 enthusiastic weavers from all over Spain to share exhibitions, exchange work and, most importantly, debate and share knowledge. New this year, the Santarén Folk group will liven up the atmosphere with popular music, offering an exciting concert in the Templete while the activities take place.
From the organizing association, we have a special hope in this type of events: we want youth to get involved and become the generational replacement of this wonderful tradition. Laura Huertos, from Caja Rural, highlights the importance of visualizing this event to ensure that the tradition of lace and bobbins continues to be passed from generation to generation.
So, dear friends, prepare your bobbins, threads and needles, because the XX Meeting of Lacemakers and Multiworkers of Zamora is just around the corner. It is a time to celebrate the creativity, friendship and cultural heritage that bobbin lace represents.
We can't wait to see you there, making unforgettable memories together!
