From 19 to the 24 of July of 2026Durham will become the world epicenter of a beautiful and meticulous tradition with the celebration of the 2026 IOLI Annual Lace ConventionOrganized by the renowned International Organization of Lace, Inc. and lovingly co-organized by the local artisans of North Carolina Regional LacersThis annual convention is a fantastic opportunity to introduce young people to the fascinating world of bobbin lace and other traditional techniques.
The motto chosen for this edition could not be more evocative: “Mountains to the Sea, Come Lace with Me” (From the mountains to the sea, come make lace with me.). It is a beautiful metaphor that connects the state's wonderful geographical diversity with the art of intertwining threads to create authentic works of art.
The main activities will take place in the comfortable facilities of Millennium Hotel, located in the 2800 Campus Walk AveThis space will be the perfect meeting point to host the different workshops, training classes and the eagerly awaited lace competition, whose official contest will be directly inspired by North American natural landscapes.
The event kicks off on Sunday, July 19th, with an opening celebration perfect for soaking up the festive atmosphere and meeting creators from around the world.
